Natural and Cultural Resources
The program promotes the generation of information about the state of marine and terrestrial biodiversity, while also providing decision-makers with the resources to assess whether the conservation objectives for which the Marine Protected Areas were established are being met
In this area, activities are developed to deepen scientific knowledge about the processes and conditions of the natural resources present in Cocos Island National Park and the Bicentennial Marine Management Area. For example, the health status of ecosystems, endangered species, species affected by illegal fishing, and critical habitats.
One of the most important and priority functions of this program is to develop control and management activities to effectively address the pressures that could affect both terrestrial and marine ecosystems.
