San José, Costa Rica. The Friends of Cocos Island Foundation (FAICO) is pleased to announce the launch of Mareas, a bimonthly digital newsletter designed to inform, educate, and encourage active participation in the conservation of Cocos Island, one of the world’s most important marine ecosystems.

With an accessible and inspiring approach, Mareas aims to bring the public closer to FAICO’s work in protecting marine biodiversity. The newsletter will feature relevant news, stories of people involved in conservation initiatives, educational tools, and opportunities for the community to take action in favor of the environment.

“With Mareas, we want to strengthen our relationship with our community by providing key information on the challenges and progress in marine conservation and motivating more people to be part of the change,” said Jimena Araya, Communications Specialist at FAICO.

A newsletter to bring conservation closer to everyone

Each edition of Mareas will include sections that foster a direct connection with the public, such as testimonials from scientists, volunteers, and donors contributing to conservation efforts, practical resources to help protect the ocean, campaigns, events, and tangible ways to get involved, as well as information on upcoming activities related to Cocos Island.

Additionally, the newsletter will be complemented by social media content, including videos and informative capsules to amplify its reach.
